Confirmed expedition to Mera Peak and Baruntse in Nepal
Today 3rd May Sandy has confirmed that he will be guiding Mera Peak and Baruntse.
He said " we have clients for both peaks, and as we are all going as one team it should be an interesting and fun trip!"
The plans are to meet in Kathmnadu on the afternnon of the 10th October, and after a day or two checking out the city we fly to Lukla and trek in to Mera trekking peak. All the team will climb that amazing and wonderful summit and those who are not into technical climbing can then return to Lukla for their flights back to Kathmnadu ( that's a 23 day trip). The technical climbers will continue on to Baruntse base camp, climb the mounatin and then come home ( that's a full 38 day trip) .
The expedition is planned for all ranges of ability, relative begginers should be able to climb Mera peak as long ast hey have some experience of using crampons and ice axes and have a sense of adventure! Baruntse is over 7000 meters and different is different proposition, but still not that technically difficult.
In both cases, all the climbing is at high altitude so a good level of fitness is required. Sandy will have his normal Sherpa team of high altitude climbers with him and he insists that if it were not for his great sherpas his expeditions would not be so successful!
