Mont Blanc - Ascent
Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in France at 4808 meters and is a much saught after summit . Sandy and his team of mounatin guides have been sucessfully providing these courses for over 15 years and many other tour operaters have tried to emulate our itinerary and good sucess rate. Our six day itinerary consist of 4 days training and practise. The first day includes glacier travel skills, crevasse awareness, ice axe and crampon technique usually on high on the Mont Blac massif by traversing the Vallee Blanche and then a three day training/acclimatisation trip taking in two nights at high mountain huts and spectacular ascents of good training summits which provide excellent acclimatization and preperation for a two day ascent of Mont Blanc. Mont Blanc can be an easy mountain when the snow, and weather conditions are superb, however please be prepared for a very long summit day, as it's a tough day by the time you get back to the valley and if the weather is bad the summit can be hard and dangerous to reach. In that case we always offer alternative mountain days oranother activity and o fcourse we reserve the right to change the itinerary if the weather forecast predicts a better day for a summit attempt ! This week is suitable for beginners as long as you are fit and keen ! We say this with some confidence as training in basic skills are provided but please note that some walking/mountaineering experience is benificial and a good level of fitness is essential! Accomodation consists of 4 nights in a good quality hotel in Chamonix, with bed and breakfast. 3 nights in Mountain huts (dormatory style accom) with an evening meal and breakfast in the morning. We keep our guiding to client rations low to ensure you receive a good safe service. Our guiding ratio for teh mOnt blanc days are1 guide to a maximum of 2 clients.
